On 24th November, 100 representatives from over 30 organisations joined us at our full-day CISWA 28th Annual Conference with the main theme of ‘Creating a Positive Environment for International Students in Perth‘.

There was a very positive atmosphere in the room with the news of the WA border opening to international students for Term 1, 2022.

Professor David Sadler, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) welcomed delegates to UWA then Terry Healy, MLA, Parliamentary Secretary to Hon Sue Ellery MLC, apologised for the Minister’s absence and opened the conference on her behalf.

The conference offered attendees a broad range of speakers from different sectors. Morning presentations were focused on Covid recovery and renewal plans, visa and immigration updates, the WA state nomination program, StudyPerth program updates and a presentation on the value of cultural diversity.

The afternoon sessions followed with multiple speakers focusing on programs that engendered the conference’s theme: ‘Creating a Positive Environment for International Students in Perth’. The programs presented included StudyPerth Initiatives, including Lotterywest funded projects, and past CISWA International Education Provider of the Year winners who spoke about how their programs had developed since winning their award.

The day was concluded with a Student Panel comprising past CISWA award winners. CISWA would like to thank the presenters who took part in the CISWA 28th Annual Winter Conference and have kindly made their presentations available.

We would also like to thank The University of Western Australia for offering their new and modern space at UWA Ezone Student Hub.

Thank you to all our colleagues in the international education sector who joined us on the day. CISWA is committed to support you in your role and we look forward to meeting you at CISWA’s 29th Annual Conference in 2022!
