2026 WA INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR – SCHOOLS
The CISWA WA International Education Initiative of the Year – Schools Award celebrated the outstanding work of an individual or team in a Western Australian school who made a meaningful difference to the welfare, support, and academic success of international students. Their initiative enhanced the student experience both within the school and, where possible, across the wider community, leaving a lasting impact.
Sponsored by the Department of Education, the award was presented with a certificate, a trophy, and $1,000 to help further develop and sustain the program.
🏆2025 WA International Education Initiative of the Year- Schools award was presented to the Dedicated English Language Program for International Students – Morley Senior High School Intensive English Language Centre.
Nomination Process
Applications open Monday 31 August at 10:00am.
Nominations must address the award criteria and provide sufficient information for the judging panel to assess the initiative’s impact, outcomes and sustainability.

Nomination Requirements
In 1,000 words or less, provide a summary that outlines:
- A description of the initiative, from its inception through to its current form
- The benefits provided to international students
- The benefits provided to the school and/or wider community
- The key success factors and evidence of sustainability (for example, accessibility, affordability, ongoing support, and effective promotion)
- Any challenges or barriers encountered during development and delivery, and how these were overcome
Important Notes
- Nominations should clearly demonstrate the initiative’s impact and outcomes.
- Supporting evidence may be included where relevant to strengthen the nomination.
- All nominations will be assessed against the published selection criteria.

Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must be
- a current CISWA member
- a registered CRICOS provider
- be endorsed by the principal of your school

2026 Key Dates
- Applications open: Monday 31 August 2026
- Applications close: Friday 16 October 2026
- Judging completed/Winners advised: late November
- All award winners are officially announced on: 10th December (evening) at the StudyPerth AGM and End of Year Event

The Dedicated English Language Program for International Students – Morley Senior High School Intensive English Language Centre.
The Morley SHS program clearly demonstrated a commitment to the wellbeing and success of the international student community of Morley SHS.
The benefits for international students were clear: there is a strong commitment to individualised support delivered by experienced EALD teachers who understand the academic, social, and emotional needs of newly arrived students. Students consistently report strong engagement, belonging, and confidence, and there are quotes from students that highlight their positive experience in the program.
The program strengthened community connections through partnerships with families, community groups, and external organisations that promote multicultural engagement, and it operates completely independently, without the additional funding that is provided to some schools for a similar purpose. Congratulations to all those involved at Morley SHS.
This makes them a very worth recipient of the WA International Education Initiative of the Year – Schools in 2025
